i have noticed only once that i saw like two spikes stick out of my clown loach, but then it went away so i thought my mind was plaing tricks on me.
n.e way i was reading a book, and they said that they do have spines, under the eyes.

Yes clown loaches have triangular razors under their eyes that they show for a second every now and then, or when they feel sick or threatened.

Clown loaches (and all other Botia species) have a razor-sharp spine under each eye. These spines are typically used when the fish feels threatened, such as when they are being handled. I know I've been stabbed by a clown loach, and it hurts!

And when he gets to Heaven, to Saint Peter he will tell: "One more Marine reporting, Sir! I've served my time in Hell."

F_L, if im not mistaken, most clown loaches do die with their spikes out like that.

I havent seen a dead clown loach(yet, thankgod) but i have read alot of stories on how their clowns had died with their spines out.

Personally, I feel that they put them out before they die for protection, and they are just left out when the fish passes away
