I had one in a 10 gallon once though not too long ago...he got umm...I'd say 3 - 3 1/2 inches n I got him real real small. So thats about as much as I know...right now mines been in a 30 gallon for awhile and I'm getting a 125 gallon tank around for him. He's about 5 inches now. Basically what I'm saying is he won't get very big and you should find him a bigger tank in the near future so he doesn't stunt n suffer or if you don't have one and you're just asking...don't get one I'm sure theres something else better for a 10 gallon |

You'll stunt the growth of the Pleco. If you want a common Pleco, you need a much bigger tank. http://www.flickr.com/photos/corydoras/ Member of the Malta Aquarist Society - 1970. http://www.maltaaquarist.com |

Plecos rarely stunt any significant amount unlike other fish. Which is why you can find plenty of pictures of common plecos on the internet in tanks that they are loger than. If he gets a new home he'll top out at close to 2 feet long. Food for thought. Koi Empty chairs at empty tables, the room silent, forlorn. |

I ask because I have one in a 5 gallon tank with a male betta. He started out 2 inches, and now, about 6 months later, is 3 inches. I had NO idea they would eventually get so big until about a month ago. I will NOT leave him in their if he gets to big, but is he safe for now? I don't want him to suffer. He seems happy enough. thanks, -Dennis [span class="edited"][Edited by Beefshank 2004-07-12 23:05][/span] |
