i am planing to get 3 coolie loaches. is there anything specific i need ?

is three a good number?

Specific? The only thing I can think of is at least one hiding place. Kuhli loaches like to have a place to go during the day (they are nocturnal) and when they are stressed.

Yes, three is a good number for them. They like to have company, so no less than three is fine. More would be better though...

what size tank? and make sure that they can't get into the filter intake! mine have been in their before lol and i had a hard time getting them out and as for numbers...3 is good, but i'd get more (depending on tank size) becoz they are kool, not that they 'school') and kuhlis will find hiding places all by themselves, so you shouldn't have to get more decor for them.

my tank is 20 gallons ,about 50 litres . would coolie loaches go with blue zebra chilids?( as i'm thinking of getting some)

3 khulies r fine in that tank the cichlids not really good in such a small tank they will kill each other
khulies can b kept wit cichlids but make sure the khulies are adults n the cichlids r juvies then u wont have any probs
they r noctural they do prefer smooth sandy bottoms they will hide so if u dont see them for a few days jsut check the filture intake if there not there there prolly fine the more u have the braver they r n they will venture out more

I have a trio of kuhlis in two different tanks and I love them

If you don't provide actual hiding places they will find their own Once they are comfortable and feel safe in the tank I've found them to be quite active during the day. My larger trio play this tag game winding themselves up and down an air line, I've seen it go on for over an hour. They like to rest together and look like some sort of fish-spaghetti. Besides eating leftover mine are fond of broccoli and peas.
