Should I be worried about my cories being on gravel instead of sand? I've heard they can injure their barbels on gravel, but I've had them for a few months now and they seem just fine.

Larger gravel is quite detrimental to barbel growth. Stick with small granules or sand.

I've kept and bred cories (peppered) in gravel only, no problems. Most store-bought gravel does not have any sharp edges (which is what may cause barbel problems). I use medium grain gravel.

The standard (medium) gravel size is just fine for cories. I personally haven't had any problems with gravel eroding Corydoras barbels, and have yet to see an occasion of that happening in a store. Your fish won't have trouble with their barbels as long as your water quality remains good and high levels of pollutants are not present.

If the gravel is rounded, you shouldn't have any problems & your Corydoras will be happy.
