tiger barbs and corys - can they live together in the same tank? tank size is 46 gallons. if not, what's a good bottom fish to have together with these fiesty little guys? there's a school of 11 in my tank, and they're the only fish in there. would loaches be better? or maybe a RTBS? there seem to be a lot of cory fanatics on these forums, so im interested in what ya'll think.

I have had tiger barbs and cories in the same tank without a problem. Actually I have a tiger barb in with panda cories now. Just make sure you put wafers in for the cories because I find the tiger barbs can be pigs.

It would probally be alright but the corys must be kept in schools 6 or more and there are plenty of species to choose from.

so what would be an acceptable number to have - i know a school of 6 or more, but how many total would be safe, especially if the tiger barbs are the only other fish in there?

I dnt really know I'm not the person to ask, but your tank is fairly big so i'd say more than 6 would be ok. Tiger barbs can be aggresive but normally to fish that have long fins, and they won't nip fins if they are in large groups. They will probally leave the corys well alone so they will be ok on the bottom.
