I agree with Alkyne, why not just have both, that is if you have enough room in your tank.

Otos are really fragile...

I say both---my bn keeps the algae away, while my cories do an excellent job of eating extra flakes, etc. They have totally different personalities/looks/jobs...and I completely agree with Cory Addict

Cories are bottom feeders

Bristlenoses are bottom, side, backwards, frontwards, and upside down eaters

Yup, in one tank I have a BN with loaches, in another a BN with cories. Works out fine and looks good too

both bleh i dont like that! id would rather have one or the other considering the all have like the same jobz i think! how good do cories clean alggea!???/

If you had done a little research prior to creating this thread you would have known that corys and BNs have completely different niches in an aquarium. Their obvious physical differences should've told you this.

Bristlenose plecs are efficient algae eaters that grow to about 5" long. They are mainly solitary fish, but when kept in pairs they can be bred in the aquarium.

Corys, on the other hand, will not eat any algae whatsoever. They are primarily carnivorous and in the wild their diet consists mainly of small worms and other invertebrates. They are schooling fish, and need to be kept with their own kind or at least other corys to be happy. Most corys grow to 3" or smaller.

I'm not your neighbor, you Bakersfield trash.

I prefer BN's not only for what they do, but the fact that they're pretty cluey.

Mine knows when I'm watching him, and will hide under an anubia leaf, with his tail hanging out.

"You can't see me!!!"

hehehe, classic. Smart but not that smart, just enough to be lovable.

I dont think that you can really compare the two fish. They are different and unique. If you are just going for personal taste then I would have to say my Bristlenoses just because they are breeding ans my cories dont seem to be into that.

Cories for bottom feeders and entertainment. BNs are great for algae and by their looks I think they add a bit of mystery or something to the tank

And of course there are loaches too...good bottom feeders like cories and I find them quite entertaining as well.-

If you need something to control Algae and keep the tank spotless, BN is the better choice....If your looking for Action within the tank then your Cory's are what your after.....You can just sit there and watch them for hours just swim around chasing each other......You have room for both? Dont really know of any Cons for the Cory's other than them being good bottom cleaners, but not going to touch algae....BN- the only Con that I know of is Size, but thats only about 5", and if you have a big tank thats not a prob.....Need a Good Filter for BN since they are poop machines...So, what are you after ???

Depends on what kind of bottom feeder you're looking for. My vote is for corys because they're much much cuter , and more active. But some people like BN's for their algae eating talents ...and don't mind their visual "appeal" .

^_^
