ok so I have 6 corys in my 29 gallon tank. they are spotted trilineatus, julii lookalikes. I just got them about a week ago, and the past 2 or 3 days i have only counted 5! well the point i am getting to is that I have 1 reticulated trilineatus in my smaller tank, it would work out perfectly if I could add him to the school as it would round it back out to 6, but do you think he will school with the spotted ones? they are the same fish, except the ones in the school are spotted and the single is reticulated.

....also... where could the original 6th one have gone? I am not incredibly shocked as the tank had just finished cycling when I bought them on a whim, but there is no sign of a dead fish anywhere! he just vanished.

Have you looked under everything? Cories are notorious for vanishing, then reappearing later. I would think that the lone cory from the smaller tank would shoal with the five already in there, but check for the 'missing' cory first. Then, if you have room, I'd add the other cory anyways. It's all alone in the other tank.

...Right?

do you have a lot of hiding places in your tank? or else do you have any predatory type fish (even a good size pleco)? if the cory died it could have been eaten, otherwise make sure you check *all* possible hiding places before you decide it's gone for good

thanks guys you were right about it hiding, i counted 6 this afternoon *happy dance*

my stocking plans are a little crowded right now, but I am going to trade my two 3" swordtails for two 3/4" swordtail fry pretty soon so that will free up at least some temporary space for the lone cory that will give me a couple months to figure it out.

I'd add the tri line anyways. He could use the extra company.

Yes, I feel sure that regardless of specific cory name, he will be happier in with a bunch of others who may look slightly different, than all by his lonesome
