If they choose to eat it, it won't hurt them. Another good food for some plecos is zucchinni.

Cucumber ranks #2 with my BNs right after broccoli Some of my favorite plec pics are of them eating fresh fruits and veggies.

Scoup the seeds out before you put it in your tank... save you a lot of cleaning...

I feed mine continental cues, broccoli, pumpkin and zucchini... anything with seeds... scoup them out... ooh yeah... and a nice lump of tasty driftwood on the side...

My pleco (sailfin @24cms)devours the pumpkin all by himself... so its a rush to get in before he does...

Be sure to blanch the vegetables and fruit for a few seconds in a microwave oven or in boiling water to soften the food up just a little bit. It makes it easier for them to eat it.

For my tanks anything goes I've dumped in squash, zucchini, cucumbers, carrots, broccolli, cauliflower, basically anything in the produce section:%) It's kind of weird though buying cucumbers when I don't even like them But, like pugperson mentioned be sure the soften them a bit either in the microwave or boiling water, it' makes it easier for the little guys and gals to eat Also after softening it up, don't forget to let it cool or run it under cold water, don't want any burnt mouths or barbels

a 30 cm pleco, and 10 bns

What size of tank do you have? It must be huge, that or you are going to be overstocked so fast you won't know what happened

And yes, I do believe they have different senses of tastes and cravings I once had a comet who would fight you for a piece of carrothe'd battle anyone and everyone until he got it all, don't think of putting your fingers in there

I'm currently trying spinach with my BN. Anyone have any luck with spinach?
