Has anyone else seen their clown loaches digging? I've had 4 of them for about a year now. Lately on occasion, looking in the tank I could find only 3. So I stand and stare and suddenly out pops the missing loach from under the lace rock. Now I know they like to root around in the gravel for tidbits, but I've never heard of them digging caves.

mine have never dug caves.

Are you sure you have enough hiding places for them?

(They might dig in sand, i have no experience with it)

The loaches are part of my 300g community. The tank has lots of caves and hiding places. I don't think they are doing it to hide. They seem to be well adjusted, or as I like to say "fat and happy". The bottom of the tank is covered with fine gravel that the loaches share with eartheaters. They get along well and can ofter be seen snuffling around the bottom together.
