![]() | do Rubber Lipped Plecos make good algae eaters? |
betahex![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Fish Addict Posts: 864 Kudos: 352 Votes: 0 Registered: 11-Jul-2001 | i have a 50 gallon and it's beginning to grow a good amount of algae. I'd rather not get a common pleco being that i don't have room for one, and would appreciate a good sized algae eater that would live happily in a 50 gallon permanantly. if not, any other suggestions? |

Plus my big guy is quite the character to watch! You could also go with a bristlenose, supposedly they eat it better, but mine have eaten all of it too. |

I had a BN that eradicated my tank of both that kind of algae as well as the green algae that I usually find on the sides of my tank - |

However, bristlenose plecos are even better at eating algae. They can keep large tanks completely algae-free, and have lots of character in my opinion. Those bristles really make them attractive to me. ![]() |

He (petey) goes after the rocks and glass like crazy. I also have a few black mollies in there. They take care of the stuff on the plants, and help petey with the rocks. |
