Do dojos eat snails? 2. will they get along well with a pair of dwarf gouramis and a rubbernose pleco? they're in a planted tank with lots of hiding places ![]() ![]() |

I don't know that there snouts are all that equipped to get into the snail's shell. They will be fine with both gouramis and plecs (I have this same set up in my tank) as long as the tank is big enough for them. They are pretty active fish, and not the brightest, so if they don't have enough room to swim around, they may injure themselves by running into things. If you have the space, they would be a great addition to your tank. Jen |

Dojo's do not eat snails and need a large tank as they tend to get around 8" long. Mine was 4" long when I bought it and it is now about 7" and I have not even had it for a year yet. They are very comical but can be messy in your tank because they like to dig and burry themselves in the gravel (hence making messy water, and also reason for needing a lot of space). I have two and I adore them. Are you asking because you need something to get rid of snails? If so, what size tank do you have and what are the other inhabitants? There are quite a few of loaches that do eat snails and range in sizes and temperments. ![]() |
