	feeding plecos

greenfootball Fish Addict Posts: 613 Kudos: 360 Votes: 0 Registered: 23-Jul-2001	ehhh for algae rock... you get a jar, put a piece of rock in there, fill with water, let it sit next to a window with sunlight, wait a few weeks, till the rock is covered in algae "fur" then use that rock to feed your algae eaters.

For most of the larger end species, you'll want to increase the protein in their diet as they get older, i.e. blood/black worms, pellet, and brine shrimp (i don't know how well the plec'll fare trying to outcompete it's tankmates with that mouth. Keep a steady flow of fresh greens going, though. Some plecs relish meaty foods (zebras), while others are primarily herbivorous (BNs). Like I said, it's highly variable.

I was feeding some live brine shrimp to a BGK today, and the otos in the tank were going crazy over them! The poor BGK barely got any... I'm not your neighbor, you Bakersfield trash.

Def try to get zuchini or cucumber, your plec will love you for that EDIT: oh and maybe try cultivating your own algae rock if you don't have a ton of algae in the tank?
