no..its not coated or anything..its the normal gravel which anyone can buy at the lfs...the problem is..i dont have those kit...its quite costly here...but i'll get one after my exams...a few days from now...but if i remove the gravel...the tank will look very ugly and the clowns will be stressed and might somehow die or get ick...

edit:the gravel is red-ish..could it be that the clowns are trying to adapt to it?they were much happier with the gravel than without it...

That's a little to red to be normal. I have never seen it before, but I dont think its good at all I dont know what to suggest, but I move one fish out of the water, with water from the tank into a small fish tank to monitor it for a few days and to see if removing it from the main tank helps it come back to normal. If yes, then I wld remove the gravel because thats the only thing that sounds suspect here, and lots and lots of water changes.

Personally i'd get the gravel out you don't know how it will effect them long term.
How well did you rince the gravel??

I would remove the gravel & see how they'll react & if they will get their natural colours back.

OK, so its probably the gravel.

What type of gravel is it and what colours? Have you checked the pH after the gravel was put in? Is any of it coloured/coated?

You need to check all your water parameters...especially look at the ammonia and chlorine levels....

How long were they in the tank before they turned red? Can you tell if it could be the water or the food? Check the parameters in the water, that red doesn't look good at all...
