Also anyway to tell what kind it is exactly. It was somewhat an impulse buy but they only had 1 left and someone else asking about plecos so I'm $50 poorer. I checked planetcatfish and I either have L018 or L177 but it seems there's no way to tell them apart. Also I was wondering what anyone feeds them. I was told it's a fairly good algae eater that gets 8" but I've read they prefer some meaty foods and can get over 10". |

With the gold nuggets there is no way to tell them apart. So, just keep it as a gold nugget, lol. There is always a bigger fish... |

Both of these plecos reach over a foot in most cases. They are very similar in looks and in care. I don't know how good they are at eating algae, but I'm pretty sure that they are both herbivores. Vegetables and algae wafers are good foods for them, with occasional live food as a treat. |

I did figure the 8" was conservative since the guy disagreed with me about royal and sailfin sizes claiming they only get 10-12". |

It is unkown how large any of these species actually get as most, if not all, of these species die prematurely in the home aquaria. On the other hand, GNs are HORRIBLE algae eaters. The only things these guys really eat algae well off of is bogwood. Their diet is heavily protein ba |
