I'd suggest returning it to the store and putting the other fish that's been losing weight in a hospital tank so it can eat without worry for a few weeks till it gets its weight back. ^_^ ![]() Current [link=Contest Rules]http://www.fishprofiles.com/files/forums/Aquascaping/44382.html?200412022138" style="COLOR: #EB4288[/link] ![]() |

People see them at LFS when they're only a inch long and say how cute they are. Then when you buy them they end up growing enormous on you. CAE or SAE (i'm sure they're the same fish) get very aggresive when they mature. Also what Babel said is true. If they can catch other tankmates they'll suck their slime coat. You should try and return your CAE to your LFS as soon as possible. |

The fishes slime coat is very important to the health and well being of the fish, Having this slime coat sucked off would lead to a fish that is very susceptible to all kinds of illnesses. Once this behaviour pattern shows on the CAE it can't be stopped. Also the CAE will soon stop eating algae and prefer to munch on the other fish thereby losing his usefullness. I think you should take him back. But if you really like them and can't bear to part with them keep a close eye on them, it's not unknown for them to suddenly run amok on a killing spree. For algae eaters try the SAE (Siamese Algae Eater), much more peaceful, wouldn't harm a fly and much better at cleaning up the algae ![]() Last edited by bensaf at 23-Dec-2004 02:56 Remember that age and treachery will always triumph over youth and ability. |

NOOOO. Chinese Algae Eaters and Siamese Algae Eaters are most certainly NOT the same fish. The chinese algae eater is a large, fast growing, algae eater from cold, fast flowing water. Chinese Algae Eater Golden/Albino Chinese Algae Eater Siamese Algae Eater The Siamese Algae Eater is a warm water fish that reaches around 5-6 inches and loves to live in a group.
