The first thing I will tell you is that they don't seem to be super hardy, we've had heavy losses from multiple shipments. Still, that could be due to other causes, and not the hardiness of the loaches. They grow to eight inches or so, and like to dig. The horsefaced loaches prefer a sand substrate, or at least fine gravel in which they can indulge their digging habits. They are good at knocking live plants loose, so keep an eye on that. They are fairly easy to feed, and will accept most sinking foods. If you are willing to give these fish lots of TLC, I'm sure that they would prove to be fairly hardy. Just take into account that like most loaches, they are good at hiding. If you want to buy them, be prepared to not see them for days on end. ![]() |
