a while back, i adopted 2 otos from Gomer, they werent thriving in his tank and i had a gugeon that also needed a new home, so we swapped.

one of the otos was always quite thin, and about 2 months after i got him, he passed away.

Willy, however, thrived, and has been hanging out by his lonesome in my 2' planted tank.

Well, yesterday, i FINALLY found another oto to keep Willy company

I can tell them apart by the spots on their caudal, so i will get a piccie of the new one soon.

On a side note, in the tank where i chose the new one, the colouring of the other occupants was somewhat different. they were lighter with spots, somewhat leopar-like. The assistant did a double-take too, and since i had only ever heard of zebra otos, we went with his theory that it was juvie colourin, but i just wanted to check (i didnt buy them just in case)

Grats on getting Willy a companion. I love ottos, i had 3 zebras for awhile but then i had an ich outbreak and lost 2, and then the other one died shortly after.

Its certainly not easy! its taken me about 7 months to find anyone who stocks them down here (tho, granted that was over winter, but still!)

7 months?

Ottos are available everywhere here. That's really too bad there are such strict import laws over there. Were they expensive?

They shade the glow of it with their mossy-misty costumes,
They wear masks of silk, porcelain, brass, and silver,
So as not to mislead with their own, ordinary faces.

$10 each, in perspective, thats like 4 WCMM, OR 2 kuhlis, or 1.5BNs or a male betta.

its not cheap, but its not *whoa*, but it was enough for me to not get more than 1 for now.

I've heard they were expensive in AUS and NZ.

Ottos are really cheap here...usually 3 for $2 or something like that...

Otos here in Canada are $1.99 each... Canadian of course. Most of the ones I've seen at work are stripey but I think I have seen some splotchy ones. Wow, I guess I'm just lucky living where otos are easy to come by... We will usually order 48 or so every few weeks... No problems getting them in stock!

I'm so adjective, I verb nouns!
