I won these fish from lotsoffish on aquabid for making him a banner.
1 pleco is yellow with black stripes, and the other is black with tiny white dots.

The one with the white dots might be a galaxy (or vampire) pleco. Does it look anything like this?:

If so, you probably have a galaxy plec. I don't know about the other one, but you should check planet catfish. Chances are, you'll be able to get an identification there.[/font]

And when he gets to Heaven, to Saint Peter he will tell: "One more Marine reporting, Sir! I've served my time in Hell."

Lotsoffish has some really great stuff...

Can you post some pictures of the fish?

There seems to be a lot of plecos that look similar on planet catfish... it's just so confusing. :%)
Actually now that I've gotten a better look at the spotted one his spots might not be white. They look more like a pale orange or yellowish color.
I have no pictures yet. I should be getting some batteries for my camera sometime this week I hope. I will post pictures when I can.
I had asked lotsoffish about it, but he cannot remember what he sent me.

if they are yellowish, it might be a gold nugget pleco

On planetcatfish the gold nugget's dorsal and caudal fins are tipped in yellow and mine is not, so I don't think it's that.
The stripey one I think may be a candy striped pleco though. It looks very similar.

Well from your descriptions it could be any one of about 100 plecos, so just guessing out of the blue isn't going to help much. Especially since Lotsoffish has some pretty rare stuff.

Unless you want to go into detail decribing things like the number of rays in the dorsal fin, spines on the fins, close examination of the ventral area, tooth structure, etc, etc, your best bet would be just to narrow it down to a few genera (or at least subfamilies) and look through the Cat-eLog.

Not all spotted baryancistrus species have yellow tipped cauds.
