Hi, I was wondering if anyone has experience with this pleco. Looked on net for info came across some, but I though I ask here. Sorry I don't have sciencetific name this is what was it called. What size, are they good algae eaters, what kind of personality, what do they require for water condition and tank size.

I would put it in my 75g with african cichlids. This is a juvenile BN in there now. Are they compatable and is the hifin spotted good with cichlids.
thanks.................openwater

If by hi fin you mean P. gibbiceps, then no, a 75 gallon will not be sufficient in housing this 16" monster. That being said, they are great algae eaters and excellent community fish.

They are pretty hardy, good at eating algae, and are normally peaceful. Sometimes plecos will fight with each other, but usually only those of the same kind. (I think) One would probably do fine in your tank, except for the size. It would just be too big.

they are fine for a 75g they grow insanely slow and arnt intense swimmers. matter of fact i have mine with cichlids. you will need to over filter the tank but size wise they grow so slow you would have plenty of time for a larger tank ater if it did grow to full size.

If by insanely slow you mean 3-4 inches in a year, than yes, they grow insanely slow.

Well then, indeed it must, as last winter, I brought mine in, and it was already past 12", whereas when I first got it, 2 years back, it was about as large as an angel--5", amybe 6" long. We had a few come into the LFS, and they grew insanely fast as well. After about two months, I could've sworn they went up at least an inch.
