thanks

Do a Google search on the Genus Pseudogastromyzon. Because P. myersi is the most commonly kept species. It's known as the Borneo Sucker. There are other Balitorines that are wiorth looking up, including Liniparhomaloptera species. Try typing that at 5:30 am when you're dog tired!

That should give you all the info you need on these critters. I did post on them a while back, but that was before the board archiving.

i have a hillstream tank i wanted a 3ft so i could make it into a sort of river, but there is no room left in my house except for my future african tank so it's only a 15g. At the moment there is only 1 hillstream loach in it, but i will get another one or maybe 2 and i've got 6 leopard danios in there for some movement. i have 4 internal filters in there doing 18x turnover and a bubble wall, so i think my hillstream loach is a success even though it doesn't really look too much like a river And the temp is 21*C/70*F
and here are 2 links you should read: one]http://www.loaches.com/hillstream_loaches.html[/link] and [link=two

Thanks for the information. I was asking because my lfs has something they're calling a "lizard cat." I came home to do some research and the closest thing I could find in terms of appearance were the hillstream loaches. So I started this thread to try to learn more.

After looking around a little more I realized that it may not be a hillstream loach at all. I found something called a lizard loach (Vanmanenia hainanensis)at loaches.com]http://www.loaches.com/species_pages/vanmanenia_hainanensis.html[/link] I'm pretty sure that this is what I saw at the fish store. The only other mention I can find is at [link=fishbase.com.

Does anyone else have any information about the Vanmanenia hainanensis? They are really cute and I would love to have them, but first I want to know more about them.

note: edited to correct link

New one on me I'm afraid. You could be the first on the Board to keep them. In which case, give us a write up and tell us how you did it!

Well I purchased the three lizard loaches that the lfs had left. The largest one is about 1.5" and the smallest one is about 0.75". I have very little info to go on, but hopefully they'll be happy in their new home. I have them set up in a 29-gallon with panda cories and kuhli loaches. There are two bubble wands in there to provide lots of movement. Plus they have their choice of driftwood or rock to rest on or under. So far they seem comfortable, although a bit shy.

Wish me luck!
