![]() | how FEW cories? |
devon7![]() Big Fish Posts: 475 Kudos: 356 Votes: 4 Registered: 31-Aug-2004 ![]() ![]() | I don't know whether he is just a loner or what, but for my first tank, a 10 gallon, I only bought 1 cory (being the novice I was haha) and he is just as active as the ones I have in a school of 6 in my 29 gallon! maybe I just lucked out or something, but he has never seemed unhealthy or stressed and he is the most active and playful fish in my 10 gal ![]() and I forget if somebody already said this, but if you're concerned about overstocking then maybe the bronze cory isn't the one to choose... you should check out a smaller species ![]() |

There are other hardy species that don't get so large. Pete, are you sure those cories aren't Brochis splendens? All the B. splendens I've seen have been much larger than bronze cories, and they do look similar. They wear masks of silk, porcelain, brass, and silver, So as not to mislead with their own, ordinary faces. |

I've had 4 bronze corys in a tank with lots of very active fish, and they were as happy as can be! |

They seem to do good no matter what! Janna- I have seen bronze corys in the LFS's display tank that have to be 4 going on 5 inches. They are a breeding set of 6, 3 males 3 females, and the females make the 3 inch males look tiny! *Makes mental note to take some pictures of display tank in fave LFS* His blind cave tetras are massive too! Mine you, everything he has in that tank is big, even his hillstream loaches! Come Play Yahtzee With Me! http://games.atari.com Http://www.myleague.com/yahtgames |

I wouldn't get bronze cories. They are one of the larger species, getting about 3 inches long. I'd get 6 skunk cories. They are hardier than most of the smaller cories, although they do get a bit bigger. They wear masks of silk, porcelain, brass, and silver, So as not to mislead with their own, ordinary faces. |

Is this the same 5 gallon tank that you have a post about? Corys are active, they need surface to explore. While I've had 2 corys by themselves (took awhile to get something as ordinary as bronze albinos in the shop ![]() ![]() ^_^ ![]() |

And they must all be the same type too. ![]() -Formerly known as the Ferretfish ![]() |

Any fewer, and the fish would not show as much group behavior, and they would be more stressed than they would with six present. |
