I just got some cories today. The guy said they were False Juliis or Agassi(sp) cories. I looked on here and those are two different types. They have the spots and the stripe like False Juliis but not the black on the top fin. Here is a picture:

Yep, false jullii cories (Corydoras trilineatus) and agassizii cories (C. agassizii) are two different species. They're also different enough so that it is easy to tell them apart.

Unfortunately your picture isn't working, so I can't help with the identification.

"The page cannot be found. The page you are looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable."

Trilineatus and agassazi ARE quite different... I'm not so good at cories that I can identify from a description, though. However, trilines do have a pretty distinct look to them. Try the picture again.

I'm having the same problem I can't see the pic

Here are a couple of mine see if any match what you have

The one with the gold fins is a Sterbai , and the one without gold fins is a Trilineatus.

The one here with "stripes" and a black fin is a Scwartzi, the greenish colored one is an Aneous (sp?), and the other one is a metae (color did not show up well here, sorry)

oh and that red guy above is Lucky

Any of those a close match? heidi

Thanks for the ID...does it have a common name?

Houston, that Sterbai is so pretty. No wonder they are so expensive. The LFS I went to today didn't have any so I could see what they looked like.

The only thing I've seen for a common name is "false network cory", but these fish are normally seen in stores as plain Corydoras sodalis. Your fish looks very similar to [link=Corydoras reticulatus]http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/callicht/corydora/257_f.php" style="COLOR: #808080[/link], but you can see that C. reticulatus has a large black blotch on the dorsal fin.

Yep..I see they have the black. None of the 6 I got today have black on the dorsal, that's how I knew they weren't false Julii's. The LFS I got them from had 3 or 4 different types of cories in the tank and didn't even have the name listed for the ones I got. The guy had to tell me. Guess he doesn't know too much since he gave me two different names and neither were right. Oh well..that store has the best looking tanks (very clean) and fish so I'll just have to excuse the ignorance and make sure I research before I buy. Thanks again!

Yes, the Sterbai are very pretty, and are similar, kind of As for expensive, they are the most expensive corries I've bought and at first wasn't going to get them, but heck who can resist right If memory serves me correctly I only paid $6.99 US for each of them, so yes about $28 but not as much as I've heard they can go for And it is the same place I bought my Pandas from as well heck, it has good prices $3.99/each

Glad sirbooks could identify your new little guys for youand don't feel bad a lot of the LFS don't actually name all their fish "correctly" it's just a fact of life
