The rare red-eyed vampire pleco! You have quite a fish there; they've only recently been discovered in a cave system underneath the Amazon! Many men perished to bring this fish back to the civilized world, for a discovery of such great importance has not been made in the past century!

Nah, just pulling your leg. It resembles an Ancistrus to me, but then again it still looks common-plecoish. I can't tell for sure from those pics. What did you purchase it as?

lol! I'm like omg this is amazing. and then

Anways i bought it as a common pleco from petco so I wasnt sure if they marked it wrong. It looked different from most commons ive seen because of the orangish markings so i wasnt sure.

It's a common, alright.

EDIT: for the record, I was fully expecting a picture of a red eyed leporacanthicus.

LoL, sirbooks seems to have tricked all of us.:%)

That's a pretty interestingly colored plec. It sure looks like a common, but the colors aren't something I've seen on one before.

The colours are very interesting & i've never seen a "red" common pleco before.

I'm just a tricky kind of person. Sorry if I got your hopes up, Ethan.

The colors are what threw me off, too. There's just something not right about them.

Remember though, that petco purchses all of it's regularly obtainable shipments from fish farms---thusly species contamination is not exactly a threat.

EDIT: also, I have seen commons with these markings: it will lose them as it gets older.
