Here's my farlowella:

as you can see, he's darn near 9 inches long!

And another view with a ruler...

His head...

and his tail.

My guess is, judging by size, he's a Farlowella vittata. Any input? Thanks.

He looks exactly like my Farlowella, and yes I would say he is Vittata. If you could get a close look at his "snout" tip, if it has little whiskers on it, its a male, if it is smooth with no hairs, its a female. I have a female, and judging by yours, males must grow larger, or yours is older. Mine is about 7 inches but very plump.
Nice looking fish Gartzenwerfe!

You'd be hard pressed to find anything else. I've heard of amozonas going for over 100 bucks.

Make sure you have plenty of algae, and even then they won't last very long in the home aquarium.

I agree with Pete there, as it looks to be. And yes, I figure it to be a female as well.

yep the close up looks like a very smooth snout, i would say female for sure
you can also tell apparently by counting the number of belly scales (scutes) and comparing with a chart online somewhere, but I figure the snout hairs is pretty obvious myself.
