Yoyo loaches would probably be fine, they only reach about four inches. They are peaceful, and are (I think) good snail eaters.

Just to be sure, what kind of dwarf pleco is that? Certain ones might get territorial towards the loaches.

Yoyos will clean up about anything. They'll even come to the surface for flakes or cichlid pellets. They also will eat algae wafers till their little bellies are swollen. Mine love snails and it takes them less than a minute to eliminate pond snails from new plants. I don't even bother dipping plants for snails I just toss them in the yoyo tank for a day. I've heard kuhlis aren't the best snail eaters and can be a bit less active and shy compared to yoyos but since I don't have any I can't really say. I do know yoyos are very active and mine are constantly swimming loops around heaters, filters, and plants.

I have one kuhli, two black kuhlis, and two queens in one tank. When not resting they often chase and play together.

To start with though you should probably stick with one type since you're a bit limited on space. My odd mix is a result of loss, I originally had three of each kind.

Let us know what you decide on

edit: sorry, forgot about feeding They'll clean up leftover food on the bottom of the tank. They also like veggie or algae wafers, shrimp pellets, and fresh veggie occasionally. I haven't found them to be picky eaters.

Do they do well if you mix them? I mean if i get a yo-yo or two and then a few khulis will they be ok, ro should i just get 3 yo-yos or 3 khulis. I don't want too many, but have room for 3, mebbe 5 fish. and what are the food requirements?

I love loaches

I have kuhli, queen and dwarf chained loaches. Any of these can be kept in a 29g.

Loaches don't have to be kept in schools, but do enjoy company, so at least three is best. Be sure to have hiding places, like caves, PVC, terra cotta pots, etc.

If you decide on kuhlis they tend to be shy when first added to a tank, but once settled in and comfortable you'll see them more often during the day.

Good choice for a bottom feeder

I have 2 yoyo loaches (Pakistani loaches) I would go for those they stay smallish around 4 inches and they have loads of personality. Mine are always playing dead it gives me a fright every time but that's just loaches for you. Yes I say go for yoyo.

try several kuli loaches or dojo (weather loaches). the kulis are cheap, stay small, bother no other fish, and eat just about anything. dojos get a bit bigger, but are bionic when it comes to food requirements and water conditions.

Yes I agree yoyo's are very active and very inquisitive they even come to the top of the tank with the other fish when you open the lid. If there's something new to investigate they are first there and if there is any nocks and crannies they will be first in there having a look. They really are very interesting. They look at you as if to say "what you looking at" and they seem to like playing dead so don't be scared if you catch them laying on their backs or sides they are just falling you. I have two of the fellows at the moment but I like them so much I am thinking of having two more.

Oh good but do remember if they start to look kind of ill or dead coz they are on their side or back they are fine and just resting or sleeping when they do this. Just leave them alone (don't go poking or prodding at them that will just stress them and chances are they will die) they will be fine if you just let them be and settle in. Good luck with them I am sure you will enjoy them.

just a quick Q. I know that loaches like to burrow, and hide in caves and tunnels and stuff. What type of substrate do they prefer? Right not the tank has these large (about 1" rocks for the floor (wife got 'em. wanted that lake superior look). will they be ok or do they like sandy bottoms? I know some loaches do frefer something they can dig in.
