My opinion and favorite thing is to put a bristle nose plec. The males get to be 4-6" and if it's on the larger size would probably be happier in a 30g but if you got a small one it would be okay for a long time anyway. The females get to be 4-5" on average.

Here is a link to some pics....

Let us know what you decide!

Edit: The albino version can be a nice colorful addition to your tank....

A bristlenose is a good idea, as these fish are great. However, we don't know whether you have room for more fish or not. What is currently in that tank?

Is this an empty 20 long? What's the filtration? Is it heated?

Do you want to make it a species only tank?

Do you want it to be an agressive/semi-agressive/peaceful tank?

Do you want it to be a community, filled out on all 3 levels?

There's so many things to suggest.

Off the top of my head, I'd suggest dwarf cichlids like rams, or a dwarf gourami for some nice color.

ABNs or regular BNs are great too, they are algae eaters and I personally think they're adorable. They can add a considerable amount to the bio load though, being the poop machines most plecos tend to be...

HTH, we can help more if you give us more info.

Lovely choices if you have naturally hard, alkaline water include the stunningly bright Lemon Yellow cichlid, Neolamprologus leleupi (BRIGHT orange), the beautifully patterned Julidochromis species, and about a dozen species of shelldwellers.

I figured since you had posted this in the "Bottom Feeder Frenzy", you were looking for some type of "bottom feeder". If you are looking for something aggressive, that tends to hang around the bottom....then red tailed sharks might be a nice choice but I believe they get too big for a 20g. Other than that I am not too sure of any type of "bottom feeder" that would fit your "aggressive", "semi-agressive" description in a 20g. Hmmm...Maybe someone else might know something.
