Wow, I was actually seriously considering doing a COTW article on the African bumblee cat not two hours ago .
Well, I'm not sure how much variation in temperament there is between species and I've never even heard of micro. polli, but what I can tell you is that the bumbleebee is that it is, as can be derived from the name, quite small--only about 2 inches TL in the wild, probably half that in the home aquarium. They are incredibly shy, making them unsuitable for any aquarium with very large, boisterous fish, and tend to be territorial towards conspecifics. A good river tank, IMO, would be:

2 micros
2 upsies
2 blockhead cichlids
6 african glasscats.

thanks for that lifenoodles, and just wondering does your LFS sell them? i was going for a african tank something like this. i haven't seen african glassies here but i could ask if my LFSs could get them in.. i'd use a 3ft tank for this, but i'm not sure what dimentions (not a 29g though) and i'd prob have a few congos in there as well a good ol krib.

Nope--my LFS doesn't have much in the way of African fish, especially something as uncommon as an m. polli. We do, although rarely, get a bee syno or two in, which is why I was thinking of doing the article--truth betold, though, after looking at the pics on planetcat, the fish we get in don't look anything like them, so I figure they might be something else (30 bucks a piece for the "bumblebee syno", as shown on the stock list).
