Hey Pete,

If you just recently got the food, it is possible that your
oto is not yet aware that it is food. Also they are rather
timid fish and probably won't come out for food if you are
around. I have seen mine most active at night, and only if I
carefully sneak into the room were the tank is in. Another
possibility is that your oto(s) may be getting enough
nutrition from the algae in your tank, and as such don't go
looking for more food in the wafers. I would give it time to
see if eventually they discover the pellets are yummy and then
they will begin to snack on them. You may want to drop the
wafer in after lights out, and in an area you know your otos
hang out in. Patience seems to be particularly important when
it comes to otos.

HTH,
Megil.

Peter,

I couldn’t have said it any better than Megil.

I have never seen my Otos eat these wafers (I have the same than you). I tried the night – lights out – method and in the morning they are gone. But to who ate them – no idea - might have been the platies as they were going for them like mad when I fed them during the day, or the snails.

I broke each waver into 4 pieces to have them in multiple places in case an Oto swims by and happens to discover a taste for them .

Just give them time to discover the new food that you're feeding them & eventually they'll eat it.
