Hi all. going to put my yo-yos and dwarf gouramis in the 30 gal tank very soon and looking to make the 10 gal a dwarf puffer tank. I would like to perhaps put an otto in there, but not sure if they get along by themselves or if they like the company of their own species. If so, how many could go in there? I am planning on 3 DPs and perhaps an otto. Any help appreciated, thanks. :88) :88) :88)

I know nothing of puffers so I don't know about oto/puffer compatibility but otos prefer company. A trio is a good start but depending on how many puffers or even despite that you could probably double that number. Otos should be added after a tank is established and has a good crop of algae. Their food can be supplemented with algae wafers, spirulina pellets, and similar foods. They also will sometimes sample any other fish food you throw in there. I've caught mine eating tropical flakes, shrimp pellets, blood worms, and tubifex. Starvation is a main cause of oto deaths. Otos are one of the few fish DPs won't bother, but they definitely like the company of their own kind.
