Pick up as in to hold?? Usually if I need to do something with a pleco I just use a good size net. Plecos tend to be very skittish. (sp?)

I can't be assed to net a pleco, as they tend to tear up themselves and the nets in the process. Usually, I'll round them into one corner and scoop them up from there, or, if they're on the glass, I'll gently push the head down, and place my other hand beneath the anal region, and run my hand up the length of the body. They pop right off. Larger plecos are usually netted with a linen tarp, as they are generally less spiny.

I have seen alot of people like hold a 12" pleco.

I accidently touched my pleco while gravel vac-ing, and he totally flipped out, and was smacking up againstthe glass, etc.

As in, like the pictures on PC and stuff? Those are generally snagged in fine nets then picked up--most are probably already dead.

Depense on what you mean if you mean taking them out of water which i do not recommend its best to grap them from the snout and the tail. I wouldnt do this to my pleco anywey if you have to move it dont move it with your hands
