ok, saw a L75 we liked on a website, lfs said they had some. when we got their we saw this plec.lfs had lost the sign and didnt know what he was. they said he was a big spot, but werent sure of any more. to us he looks like the L75 but also appreciate there are many simlar species.
anyone any thoughts.

It's, as of yet, quite small, but the elongated body structure leads me to believe that this could possibly be an L-75, but with the head reticulation, I find it highly unlikely. I have a hunch that this is another species, and if I'm right, then you probably increased your profit margin by a good 5 pounds, at least. The coloration, though admittedly variable amongst sabajis, is never seen with the lining between the eyes; a hypancistrine trademark. Could you try to get a clearer side shot of the head and a picture of the sucking disk? Thanks. An overhead shot would be nice, too.

edit; jut looked it up on planetcatfish, doesnt actually look like any of those pics. ours has big spts on top fin and tail and body, rather than stripes

darn. i think ur right.noticed a little earlier but thought was part of markings or sand. sure it wasnt as bad then just looked closer and think ur right. hes going to have to be moved again now into our smaller tank to be treated

update: whitespot nearly gone, eating well.

been on planetcatfish and he turns out to be an L127, but there is little info on him.

anyone have any?

I dunno, it still looks a lot more like one of the ancistrines with notable interperc growth to me, so IMO, I believe that it is something else, which I assume is a hemiancistrus or such rather than an ancistrinae. However, HH does have a masters in icthyology, so I could be wrong
