My botia loaches like to sssqqquuueeezzzeee in between rock formations and sometimes seem to be wiggling really hard trying to get out. Sometimes it freaks me out and I go in a move the rocks to free them. I've tried rearranging the rocks so there's no crevice too small but they manage to find (or make) one. I hate to disturb the formations so many times that it disturbs the peace of the whole tank, stirs up bio and stress too, especially mine. Anyone else have this problem w/long slender loaches??? Should I let them get themselves out if they got themselves in?

I have some yoyo's that do that but I don't worry too much about it. They are pretty good burrowers in the the substrate and they can fit in some amazingly small spaces.

One of the things I first liked about them when I saw them at the lfs was the way they pushed large substrate around with their nose. They even roll over the med size gravel bigger than their head. Diligent lil guys! But it's amazing the skinny size crevices in big rock and driftwood they try to push themselves through. I guess they know what they're doing. No wonder they're so long and slender.

I have a pic of mine in a cave and if I can I'll post it. All you can see is his tail sticking out from under the rock. It doesn't even look like there is a cave there! He and his buddies go in and out as they please though, so I'm thinking they have a clubhouse in there or something

I believe it! One thing for sure, these guys got all kinds of antics and a kick-in-the-butt to watch. Look forward to the pic.
