I don't think that citrus fruits are good for fish tanks. I know that they affect the water somehow, probably with their acid content (as you said). There are many better choices for a bristlenose, such as cucumber, zucchini, and sometimes even blanched lettuce, depending on whether your particular one likes it or not. Though each fish has its own food preferences, citrus fruits aren't a good choice either way.

I doubt a BN pleco would ever encounter an orange in the wild. And if it did, how would it peel it?

i think those lil green balls of brocolli bits at the crown (not sure what u call those) would fall off and pollute ur water with green balls of debris] hahah so i wouldn't go with brocolli either.

You can even go with peas. i think iv'e read somewhere in a book that said to feed peas, blanch the peas, then just before adding them into the tank, pinch them a lil to loosen 'em up, so they'll sink and be soft enuff to be eaten by ur fish

My BNs absolutely love broccoli. I've never had a problem with bits coming off and polluting the water.

Do you boil it or just put it in there frozen? Also what do you use to tie it down with?

the picture shows it tied down with a rubber band onto a rock, and i would assume the broccoli is neither frozen nor boiled, but just fresh and raw. can you get frozen broccoli in USA? weird (i'm sure we can too, but only in microwave dinners and pre-packed stuff).

I use either fresh or frozen. Fresh is simply rinsed off, frozen I rinse then thaw. I attach it to a rock with a rubberband.
