Hi all
Yesterday I was at a cool LFS and I saw some upside down catfish in a tank with Wood Shrimp, so despite the astronomically high price, there was a 20% off sale, so we bought 2 upside down catfish and 1 wood shrimp.
The one upside down cat is very pale with tiny brown speckles, the other dark and mottled. They seem to have acclimated well so far, just a little skittish still. One of them is interesting, when it sits on the gravel, it flips right side up, the rest of the time it is upside down! The other, the pale one, always stays upside down, even when resting on the gravel! Very interesting fish. Is there anything I should know about these guys, any important info?
I also bought 1 wood shrimp to help keep my fry tank clean, so It is in a 10g tank. Will this tank be big enough for it? It is live planted and a mature tank, with lots of food and algae available for it. Does this really cool little creature have any special requirements? Any important info I should know??

i can't help with the wood shrimp but heres my article on USDs http://s6.invisionfree.com/catfishmadness/index.php?showtopic=68. Since your USDs are different colours, one of them *could* be a different species. What pattening have they got?
One of my 4 USDs is a fake USD syno, hes got lots of spots and not the normal USD patten. Be warned though, some imposter USDs can be preditory.

oh and congrats on getting USDs and good luck with them

Hey CFD,
The one I got looks just like the picture, that is the slightly smaller one that sits "right side up" when on the gravel. The other looks identical, but with less dark mottled coloring and more of the pale "underneath the stripes" coloring.
The girl at the pet store said they were "true upside downs" and that is why the high price! I dont know if I got swindled or not at 16.99 canadian a peice, but I do love these little guys!! They are super cute, and they romp with the queen botia and the corys!!
I may get 2 more in a month or so, I will see how these two adjust.
I am going to borrow my moms digital camera this week, I will try to get a pic of them so you can see!
