I have a 10cm synodontis catfish, but don't know what its called?
It's in the same shape as the cuckoo catfish (synodontis multipunctatus) but is a very dark brown with small black spots. It cost me $30 so I know its not a cuckoo catfish.

Can anyone tell me what its common and scientific name is ?????

none of those!
My synodontis is completely Very very dark brown (almost black ) even on the fin rays.
Also the spots are every where heaps more than synodontis decorus.

Synodontis gobroni, Synodontis nebulosus?

Go to http://planetcatfish.com and look through their catalog of Synodontis species. That might help.

I think you'd know if it was Synodontis angelicus, apart from its appearance, those things command a sky high price, at least here in the UK ... if you'd got one for $30 you'd have got a bargain

It could possibly be any one of the several species of Tanganyikan synos. If you got it for thrity bucks, it probably isn't a petri, either.
