I bought 2 of these cute guys (all they had) a couple of weeks ago. They are definately shy and I'm going to try to find more. They were sold as c. schwartzi which I don't think they are. Are they c. trilineatus?

Without a good look at the head, difficult to tell. Hmm.

I'll try to get a better pic tomorrow when I'm at work. They are so shy its hard to get close to the tank without them swimming away and hiding.

Cories sold as C. julii in the US are C. trilineatus. I'd say there's an extremely strong chance this fish is indeed C. trilineatus.

it could also be 'Corydoras Gomezi', these two look VERY similar, but i still think it is a Julii (trilineatus)

I think it's trilineatus. It's definitely not a schwartzi, and I don't think the spotting is distinct enough to be gomezi.

I've bought julii from Petco, and they were actually labeled julii, so it's possible to get them.

If the Petco was in the US - they're trilineatus. But don't take my work for it, CoryAddict is our resident expert on Julii/Trilineatus.

That's Corydoras trilineatus. Even without seeing the markings on the head, I know which species because of how far the black line goes up the flanks. In Corydoras trilineatus, the line is distinct until it reaches the dorsal fin (or beyond), and in Corydoras julii (which is very rarely imported into the US), the line is less distinct and a mere row of spots under the dorsal fin.

Yeah, I've noticed that trilineatus cories tend to be much more shy than other species of cories. I wonder why that is? I guess it is just a trait of their species. Maybe they're always on edge because of the constant mislabeling.
