It's the most rare out of those species and looks impressive with the spot on its tail. "Julii" Corys are going to be Corydoras trilineatus. Leopard Corys are Corydoras leopardus. As for common names, it is best only to use scientific names for corys. There's just so many species, that if you say a common name beyond Peppered or Bronze Corys, people are are likely to have no idea which species you're talking about. Most corys do not even have common names. Last edited by Cory Addict at 12-Oct-2005 22:48 ![]() I'm not your neighbor, you Bakersfield trash. |

It also has colors and patterning that are a great departure from the other fish. C. caudimaculatus is of about average size, reaching five or six cm. C. leopardus has a longer snout than C. trilineatus, and also grows slightly larger. If you compare pictures of the two species, the snout difference becomes obvious. C. trilineatus is very common for a Corydoras, and will be seen for sale much more often. The only common name I've seen for C. caudimaculatus is "tail-spot" cory. C. trilineatus can be known as a "leopard", "julii" (a false designation), and "false julii" cory. As said above, scientific names are much more accurate when discussing fish. There are a couple of other cories that can be called "tail-spot", and several other "leopard" cories. |
