![]() | with 10 clown loaches: |
betta_max![]() Hobbyist Posts: 64 Kudos: 8 Votes: 0 Registered: 16-Nov-2001 | with: -10 clown loaches -1 BGK -1 bristlenose pleco -1 peacock eel all in a 125 gallon tank. would the bristlenose plec, BGK and eel get their share of food? considering these three arent always the fastest to get to their food.(well, not as fast as the 10 clown loaches at least) im also taking into consideration that ALL of these 13 fish are essentially bottom feeders and that has me worried. just curious what you guys think. all comments welcome and appreciated, thanks. |

Maybe 7 at the most. It just seems too many bottom feeders. Then I would add something that either schools in the middle or a larger fish that hangs around in the middle all day long. Maybe something like a school of Silver Sharks or school of Silver Dollars or maybe a Snakeskin Gourami or for the unusual effect, a school of bout 6 Glass Catfish. |

betta_max![]() Hobbyist Posts: 64 Kudos: 8 Votes: 0 Registered: 16-Nov-2001 | krige: 135 US gallon is large enough for the babies i plan on getting. im buying all my fish as young as possible and by the time they grow up i can pass them along to my girlfriends 180. i still have a long time to enjoy them i figure. malawai freak: yes a BGK do get big but i dont think it will be too much a problem with only 13 fish, young ones at that. perky:haha i would like a big plec but that would take up even more space in my tank. i LOVE BN because they stay small and do the imo the best job at clean up. i was thinking of adding a school but with that many clowns which are pretty boisterous and adding a small school who are also fast feeders, my BN, BKG and peacoock eel will NEVER get their food. i juggled with the thought of adding some silver dollars but im planning on putting a few plants in the tank and they would eat that stuff up. fish1:yeah i dont think itthe BGK will have a problem with the size at the age im gonna get him at. maybe when hes fully grown it will get a little tight, but i can ship him over to my GF tank or upgrade to a larger one myself and i have a great relationship with my lfs and they said if i ever have fish that outgrow my tanks they would take care fo them and sell them to someone who can take care of them. i have PLENTY of time to plan for that when the time comes. my favorite fish are clown loaches and black ghost knife fish. i am planning the tank around them. thanks for the suggestions guys! im thinking of adding 4-5 neon rainbows to give the tank some life but im still debating it. |

Competetion for space and food may be an issue.... I'd consider rethinking your stocking. [span class="edited"][Edited by 2004-07-05 14:15][/span] |

I would still reduce the amount of Clown Loaches. There are way to many, go for 6 at the most. That would be the best amount. I know you may love them but it is going to be the Clown Loach stopping you from adding the BN and school of Rainbows and the Eel. If you reduced the number of Clowns as well you could get a Fire Eel! If you have never seen a Fire Eel you must see one. They are the best and prettiest freshwater eel! Much better than the Peacock. |

betta_max![]() Hobbyist Posts: 64 Kudos: 8 Votes: 0 Registered: 16-Nov-2001 | thanks for the responses guys. i have chosen to reduce the clowns to 6 or 7. but im gonna keep the peacock eel cause i like them alot and they dont grow as large as the fire eel and heard they are the most docile out off the fw eel variety. oh and i was wrong, im getting a 150 gallon as opposed to the 125 i listed in my initial post. oh and im considering adding 1 gold severum. |

If you do you could keep a Peacock in a 55g tank and then a Fire Eel in a 150g because if you like FW Eels a Fire Eel is the one Eel you must keep. Trust me on this one, they are a lot better than Peacocks |
