Hey guys, i was looking at my dads fish, and a few of the smaller corys arent looking well.

They are around 8 years old, and i can just tell they are burnt out.

One of them kinda has a white-ish patch on the side of him (It kinda looks like the start of HILLE on those huge SW angelfish)

The other just looks sad i guess, alot of times i see him constantly "hovering"

I do not expect these guys to last much longer, although i said the same thing about the gourami in the tank a few months ago, and he is still doing fine.

victimization are ya'll keeping up with the water changes? Try feeding something a little different...get some bloodworms, or something different for them to munch on...I hate the thought of fish getting old:#(let's ask cali...heidi

Yes, water changes & food might do the trick. Good water changes & rich food such as Bloodworms & Brine Shrimp are very healthy for Corydoras. Have you tested the water?.

50% water change, deep gravel vac, and a week's supply of live food should perk them up enormously.

When did your father last perform water changes or gravel vacs?

Only listless Corys are usually a sign that they're in imminent need of the aforementioned kind of attention.

sorry for not replying, last time he did a water change was the week before last, were doing one on wednesday.

ALso, the corys are pretty old, im just assuming their age is catching up with them.

Also, these guys are probably older than 8 years old, because we got our gourami around 7 years ago, and i know those corys were older than 1 when we got the gourami (because i acually remember gettting the gourami)

Your cories are actually still in their prime, then. Many species can live for over fifteen years, and I've heard of a twenty-six year old C. aeneus.

If your cories are still acting up, I'd double-check the water quality. That tank is probably overstocked, and the combination of that and mere biweekly water changes often equals high nitrates. Nitrates are a major enemy of Corydoras catfish, since they spend their time so close to the gravel where the nitrate levels are highest. Keep the water clean, and cories are usually happy. That's why they are generally so easy to keep.

Just an update, but one of these corys died about an hour ago.

My dad said they were about 12 or more years old.

After school tommorow, im going to do a 25% water change.

EDIT**

This is what it looked like: http://www.corydorasworld.com/modules/Gallery/albums/YurikoWatakabe/eve1_C19.jpg

It looked VERY similar to that cory.

^^ im pretty sure that is the speces right there. If it isnt that one, it is like a blood relative to that kind.
