i just got some of these. i love high fin loaches. i got 4 of them. around 15 dollars a piece is great. i have seen them at prices of 50 + dollars. does n.e 1 have prior expressince with these fish. these are my num 1 fav fish.

They get MASSIVE and I believe they prefer cooler water, but I'm not 100% sure on that.

they do well in cool water, but they can live in warm water. when they get to large in to the pond they go.

I dont think that they are loaches. They are a type of freshwater shark.

Nope, they aren't sharks either. They are in their own family (Catostomidae), which includes the fish known as "Suckers". They are closely related to the family Cyprinidae.

It is. Cypriniforms are the order. Cyprinidae is the family.

Cypriniforms include fish such as loaches, suckers, and CAEs (all of which are not Cyprinids), as well as goldfish, and danios (which are Cyprinids).

Yeah, I am aware of cyprinidae, but had always assumed that the collective order was referred to as "cyprinids". Guess not.

unfortiunalty i haven't seen a pic of the adult.big guy. i seen that drawing b4. i don't think they are ugly at all. but i will have to get a pond ready when they become bigger. i guess there is little known about breeding right.

I think that drawn picture is a bit exaggerated. They do not get that ugly...

But, most people tell me all my fish are ugly ...I just like all the krazy lookin' ones!
