On Friday I changed around my tank a bit and when I did I added a piece of fake driftwood. I had been told that even though it has a hold on the end (I laid it on it's side so it's a pretty long piece) the fish would just know better than to get stuck in there. Well, that's been true. The fish, for the most part, don't go in it, just around it.
Except those yoyo loaches. I can only assume they are IN it somewhere. I have 3 and I haven't seen them AT ALL since I changed the tank. They don't even come out for the feedings.
Anyone else had this happen? I'm not sure if they're just hiding, or if they could be dead in there... I hate the idea of having to tear up the tank to find them but I'm getting rather concerned.
How long should I give them before I take out that driftwood and check it?
I thought they'd be coming out at night when I turn off the lights, but I haven't seen them during the night either..
Thanks!

I would be curious & check, maybe they are trapped inside.

Make sure that all the things you put in your tank are fish safe.

This morning I cleaned it out again and took out the driftwood and drained it, twice. Absolutely no sign of those 3 fish anywhere. They were about 3" long so it's bothering me that I can't find any part of them. All I can figure is they got stuck way up in the driftwood in a small area because after I shook it up a bit nothing came out. I really liked those fish too.

Have you checked all your tank?. Any hiding places or rocks?. Are you saying that they vanished?.

Do you have a sand substrate that they could hide in? Have you checked on the floor outside the tank to make sure they have jumped out? (Sorry to suggest the possibility!) They also might just be very good at hiding; try turning on a flashlight in the middle of the night.
I've had the same problem with a BN I bought. He disappeared after putting him in the tank, and two weeks later, no sign of him, even after a thorough search. The next day, my 8 year old says "Daddy, what's that big brown fish with the bushy nose?". I got to see him for 30 seconds, and now he's gone again. Oh well, as long as Mrs. BN can find him!

I have a gravel bottom. After taking out the driftwood I stirred up the gravel all around and still found no sign of them. No sign of them outside this tank either. You would think I could find at least 1.... I do keep looking at night after the lights are out. Maybe I'll get lucky like joe fishy and they'll turn up. Just kind of odd because I used to see them all the time. I'll post here if they turn up.
