I have a trio. The above profile has a good deal of useful info, but is by no means complete. You can browse the web for a plethora of L-46 articles.

i have a feeling this may jack the price up big time considering if i have the chance to buy one or two, and my location. i may have to call around...

Chances are you'll have to pay about $100 for one now, but there are a couple people that get lucky and pay less. Awesome fish, but finding one is hard.

thats a big buck for three and a half inches of freshwater fish. maybe its worth it... seems like a friendly alternative to get something interesting and colorful into the tank.

There's only one reason to get a Zebra Plec anymore, and that's to prove your a huge fish . You have the people that buy carnivorous fish to show off that they have fish that can tear apart tiny defenseless feeders, and then you have the people that go out, buy, raise, and breed the most expensive types of fish just to show off that they can. On account of appearances, there are many other Hypancistrus species (and other genera!) that appear more commonly and look almost as good if not better. But you gotta admit, it can be pretty jaw-dropping to see someone with fish that's the shiznit.

Okay FPilians, to amend, I didn't feel like thinking of terms other than "" and "shiznit" for some reason. Only two weeks left before the AP tests I think is starting to deteriorate my brain.:%)

Tee hee, I love you too, Shini.

Also, I am quite screwed for AP comp sci, as the teacher did not teach us anything.

Most are going for $150+ online and that's only for 1" juveniles . Don't forget to add on that nice $50 to ship .

You want a small black and white pleco try [link=http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/loricari/peckolti/213_f.php]http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/loricari/peckolti/213_f.php" style="COLOR: #00C0C0[/link] Thats L134 which sells for somewhere around $20 each. You could probably trick a few people into thinking it's a zebra.

In Austrlia they are ilegal as stated. If you are lucky enough to find one, you would be looking towards a $1000+ fish. There is koi sold here for over $2000+ as they are ilegal too.

Shini... I swear I was about rolling on the floor over here when I read your post! Oh man! LOL! TOO funny! Zebra plecos are GORGEOUS... and unlike the fish pimps, I wanted one before I knew how ridiculous the price tag was. In other words, before I really knew what they were! LOL! I think funds are a little low for me to be pulling out my hot pink fuzzy cowboy hat with the huge feathers just yet though! LOL!

I don't think they're illegal in Australia. They're just not exported to Australia, or any other country for that matter now.

I have actually been lucky enough to see a Zebra Plec at a LFS near me, a few years back. Thats when I knew nothing about them and how rare they were/are now.

Robby, send some zebras to me.

p.s I don't think koi are illegal in Australia either. I could be wrong, but I have seen koi in LFS.
