You could get a school of tiger barbs as dither fish. You would probably be seeing your green terror a lot more and they are too fast for him to catch.

i think the GT would be fine in there by himself, maybe a few protected cat fish like a hoplo.

I think you really are pushing for space in a 55g for a GT and other fish. In time, if you get a male he will most likely want the 55g to himself and not tolerate any other tank mates. Any chance for a bigger tank?

Before you criticize someone walk a mile in their shoes. That way you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

the only other cichlid I'd put in a 55 with a gt is a gt of opposite sex and hope they pair up. as lindy said, a male gt will want the whole 55 as his territory so your best hope is a female to share the territory. dithers such as tiger barbs or a species of rainbow should be quick enough and a gt may not even bother them anyway since they'd stick more towards the middle to top of the tank.

lindy and jason rs are spot on. that exact same thing happen to me(one of my first chiclid tanks)my gt took over the whole 55gal tank and would not let any of the other fish freely swim around.
