Yup, those cichlids would all be fine together. All are peaceful, and combined, they would still easily fit in your tank. What other fish are you considering? I would go for tetras, cories, and/or a pleco of some kind, probably a BN.

Sounds very nice

Unless you already have something specific in mind there are quite a few options for other stock. A school of tetras, rasboras, barbs, even rainbowfish. Cories or loaches for the bottom...with a 55g depending on what you decide on you could even have both.

Good luck and keep us posted.

If you're bent on keeping the whole Amazonian thing, I'd add some larger, flat tetras such as black widows/bleeders, or smaller, compact ones such as lemons, beaconfish, and rosies.

I wouldn't put Bolivians with Angels. They prefer harder, more alkaline water than both the others and may very well nip the fins of the Angels. I would go with one of the hardier species of Apistogramma. This would fit in the Amazon theme, unlike the Bolivian.

even if i had two different tanks the ph and hardnesses would still be the same. i dont believe in trying to change ph if you buy fish locally. angels and rams are vey adaptable. and with the nipping of the rams i've never been worried about that because the rams are peaceful and they occupy two different tank levels

Bolivian rams are very peaceful for cichids, though a breeding pair can become somewhat territorial. Still, the rams won't bother the angelfish at all, and they will tolerate the same pH and hardness. I don't see any problem with that setup.

Uh, you DO know that the Amazon continues through Bolivia, right? Furthermore, I agree with Books in that the pH stuff is absolute posh. Angels and Rams do fine at ANY reasonable pH. There is no physical adaptation in their anatomies that favor one pH over another.

I will vouch for that! I have 2 adult silver angels, and 2 Bolivian rams.. of which i think are M and F.. not 100% on that.. but they are fine!! the rams stay in the bottom of the tank.. i think they are too chicken to touch the angels!! The ARE perfectly fine with angels! Go for it!

72 gallon bowfront:Tanganyikan Lake set up
75 gallon: A. Baenschi trio,Cyanotilapia Afra Cobwe(4), copadichromis trewavase, protomelas sp. tangerine tiger(breeding pair)

Agreed. Many keep Bolivian rams and angels together.

Beware though, the fish don't always read the books!

I had two juvinille apistos (agassizi) in a 65 with a bunch of good sized angels and noticed fin shredding. Moved half the angels out and the fin shredding increased. Hmmm.

Stood and quietly monitored the tank for an hour and witnessed three brutal attacks by the apisto on the angels. They would grab the fins and hold on like a bulldog while the angel jerked and struggled.

Later, I was able to determine that I had two male apistos. Perhaps they were bored as there were no girls to flirt with? I have no idea, just know that apistos are not necesarily fool proof with angels.

Cup,

A tributary of the Amazon runs from Bolivia. However, the Amazon does not...it does run from Peru through Brazil.
