I'll be setting up my 72gal Bow Front soon and I might also set up a 95gal This is more of an Opinion question. I prefer SA because of the Angels and the Cockatoos. What would you? Mbuana, Malawi? SA or African? I'm just interested to know because I would really like to have just tanks set up as Cichlids with like a school or 2 of some tetra or rosabora or danio or something. lol

So yeah, What type of cichlid tank you do? Please include some of the fish in each type(s) you post. Thank you!

10G- 6 Zebra Danios, 1 Upside Down Catfish
20G- 1 Goldfish
72G(maybe95)- Need Stock suggestions

That is such a tough choice. I currently have one 20G tank set up as a SA dwarf apisto tank. I have a male agassizii with 3 females. Previously I had a cacatuoides triple red pair a bitaeniata pair. LF has a beautiful pair of viejita. Look here for other nice dwarves http://www.fishprofiles.com/profiles/list.aspx?term=apisto. As far as I know, LF contributed the picture of the viejita. I think I will always like having a pair or colony of apistos.

Other cichlid to consider are the African riverine dwarves. Have a look at the Pelvicachromis taeniatus varieties (dehane, mowlie, nigerian red). They are relatives of the krib and I have a nigerian red pair. My avatar is the male and below is blurry pic of the female.

But you have asked such a difficult choice. Not for much longer can I resist the African's and I'm planning a tank right now. I have been reading the following thread and like some of the choices suggested. http://www.fishprofiles.com/files/threads/33695.1.htm?17#

Have fun

If you are wanting a community type setup with schools of fish and some cichlids, then SA such as Angels and/or Apistos would be a good choice for that type of setup, as well as Bolivian and German Rams.

If you are leaning toward an all cichlid setup (95g would be excellent for this), then look into a Malawi setup, such as a Mbuna tank.

I like both personally and I would have a hard time deciding myself. The 72g bow would make a nice community tank and you'd have room for some Angels, Apistos, as well as some schools of fish.

I love my Malawi tank because of all the color and activity it has, but I'm also partial to my Angel and Bolivian rams in the 55g planted.

There are too many choices for a Mbuna tank to list. It all depends on what you personally like and which size tank you decide to go for.

If you aren't a huge fan of the dwarf cichlids you could always go with some larger peaceful ones such as severums or discus. You could also get larger tetras so they wouldn't get eaten by the bigger cichlids. If I had a 72gal I would probably get some big colorful cichlids with a stocking list like...

2 Severums
15 Congo or Emperor Tetras or rainbowfish
1 Black ghost knife
2-3 Opaline Gouramis
a few other miscellaneous fish

Thank you for all the suggestions ^_^ All are quite considerable. I was thinking of the 95Gal to be all Cichlids and I know Mbuanas are usually really colorful(like Yellow Lab).

Thanks!!

Any more suggestions?
