I was wondering if anyone could tell me if Oscars eat less when they are spawning? I just got two Oscars Sunday and since I have put them together, my smaller one has not left the large one alone and I have hardly seen either of them eat. I just bought some feeder gold fish today and they really don't seem interested. Thanks

if they were close to mating they would of killed the feeders for intruding on there teritory, my guess would be if they just got introduced they are getting to know each other and a little stressed they should be back to there glutteney selfs in no time:%)

The difference between 'involvement' and 'commitment' is like an bacon and egg breakfast: the chicken was 'involved' - the pig was 'committed'."

eww feeders...do yourself a favor and stick to pellets...far more healthier and less messy. if you must use live because of your own reasons then use your own guppy stock not feeders. they are full of diseases and nastyness.

Your oscars are probably still getting used to eachother and the tank. Give them a little more time and you will find they settle in great. What size tank have you got them in?

A diet solely consisting of feeders will be bad for your fish. Oscars are especially e to Hole in the Head Disease and it is believed that poor diet is a factor.
As was suggested above a diet of pellet/dry food will be much better for your fish and keep the feeders as treats.

Before you criticize someone walk a mile in their shoes. That way you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

Oscars eating habbits change quite a lot whilst spaning...usually they stop eating all together until fry are born! Once again tho it's different for all oscars.
