I'm saving at the moment, (which will be made easier once i get a job). for a new tank, i just need to know what equipment and tank size so i know roughly how much i need to save up, what substate etc. i'm going to buy everything slowly and try second hand equipment tanks etc.

Wanted fish
Discus 6 + thinking of all torquose
rummynose tetra 20 ish
Corys 10+ (allready have 7)

what size tank? i was thinking 5x2x2ft or 6x2x2ft
filter? lighting? will be planted with moss and swords and some large grasses.
Bogwood make discus feel at home.

anybody got similar setups.

Shekoi,

I set up a 125G (6 x 2 x 2) on 11/21. The following link will lead you to pictures:

http://discusasahobby.com/forum/index.php?topic=1142.25

I have 384W of light on the tank with 200 pounds of EcoComplete gravel. Light is on 12 hours per day by timer, no injected CO2.

Eheim Pro II Thermofilter and an AC 500 provide filtration with heat from the Eheim and an additional 2300W heater. I like to have back-up for filtration and for heat.

Bio-load consists of:
9 adult discus
2 juvenile discus
12 neon tetras
5 BN
6 corydoras
2 m. ramirez

Water change regimen is 40% per day. If the fish seem "skittish" I do a morning and evening water change.

Tank pH is 7.6 with constant spawning activity. Seachem Prime is used to condition the water at half the recommended dosage.
