EBJD question | |
zeketaz Hobbyist Posts: 114 Kudos: 78 Votes: 1 Registered: 18-May-2009 | I bought 4 little EBJDs a little while ago and they are an odd color. They are a super dark blue instead of the light powder blue. They still have the same markings and stuff. Yesterday I saw more EBJDs at the fish store and they were the powder blue. Is there something wrong with my EBJDs? |

The intensity of a fish's coloration depends upon all sorts of things, most of which require the fish to acclimate to their new tank, tank mates, and environment. By now they should have settled in, and if the water chemistries are correct, they should have their normal coloration. If not you should look at your lighting... Is it too bright (harsh)? Your landscaping... Are there places where they can get under overhangs or in caves and be out of an exposed area? Your water...Is the water of poor quality? Check the water for Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate, pH, and it GH. Are the values within normal for those fish? Frank -->>> The Confidence of Amateurs, is the Envy of Professionals <<<-- |

I asked my LFS about it and after about 5 min of pondering finally asked what color my gravel was. I told them black and they looked like a light went off... Well to say the least that's why they are dark on top of that my lights aren't the brightest and the back is painted black making the tank quite dark. When they stay towards the front of the tank for a while they do get their lighter coloring till the move to the back again lol |
