For the last hour we have watched my female laying about 8 eggs. Everytime she does this the male follows her and eats them.
Both have extended tubes. Do you know whats going on??
He bullys her to the filter away from the cone that I have put in place, which looks like the place she wants to lay. Then he eats her eggs?

well firstly jaqcuie has said ...... he is eating them as she is laying them ..... instead of fertilizing them he is eating them .... so if she took out the male ..... the female most likely would not lay ................. aslo even if she did spawn then ........ the eggs would be infertile anyways

So you need :
A female to lay the eggs and the male to fertalize the egg ok then the eggs hatch.
But if you:
Take the male out and the female layed the eggs then they would just sit there untill they get wipped off by the fish in the tank.

Hi Jacquie,

Unfortunatly this does happen, I have a pair that does the exact thing. My pair are a new pair and I think he doesnt get the idea of what he needs to do.

Leave them and see if they get it right, they have laid once and they will again.

Hi everyone
They are new to the tank maybe he will get the jist of things next time LOL
Her tube has gone back in but he was the instigator, he was pushing her to the filter that they had been cleaning. I think I'll move them to a tank by themselfs and see what happens.

Derek said Oh No not another one when I told him then the protest stopped!!!:%)
