No,the minimum would be a 75g for just one and even then it wouldn't be happy. They like to be kept in small groups and the minimum for that would be a 125g.

5 as a minimum I think and a 125g tank.
One frontosa simply wont be happy in a 55g tank.

Before you criticize someone walk a mile in their shoes. That way you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

Or lots of others - there are a million loooovely Tang choices for a 55, Fronts just don't happen to be one of them.

What do you like about Fronts? Maybe we can suggest another fish based on that.

I guess I wont go with a Frontosa. I like their clor and the bump on their heads so any thing similar to that I guess. Those Samazi look just like it I think I might go with one of those. How may of those could I put in my 55 gal? Also so they get the bump on their foreheads also? Thanks for the help

one possibility might be a pair of [link=Steatocranus casuarius]http://www.cichlid-forum.com/articles/s_casuarius.php" style="COLOR: #FF8080[/link] and a school of Cyprichromis leptosoma. The cyps will provide lots of beautiful color and the Steatocranus (aka Buffalo head cichlid) get a nice sized nuchal hump. Granted these fish don't come from the same region, but I think they'd be fine together.

Thanks for the info I like the buffalo head cichlid. If I got a pair of Buffalo head cichlids how many would be a school for the Cyprichromis leptosoma? Could anything else go in like bootom feeders? Thanks again

8-10 cyps should work. the bigger the group the better but in a 55 you'll be somewhat limited. they only grow to about 3.5-4.5" though.

I noticed both of the buffalo head and the cyps require a different ph. Would they still be ok?

if you get tankraised specimens (which shouldn't be too difficult) then you could do something right in the middle of their preferences. For instance the Steatocrannus will prefer neutral to slightly acidic water while the Cyps prefer basic water. So, you should be fine doing something in the 7.2-7.6ish range. Plus, many West African cichlids (such as Steatocranus) are tolerant and adaptable to a much higher ph than what they'd encounter in the wild. A constant ph and steady, clean water is really more important imo.
